13 Ways to Save Money 💸 | Money Saving Hacks (Spend Less, Save More & Live Simple 💰)
Saving money isn't about being able to buy bigger and better things. It's about being prepared to take care of your family ❤️.
1. Spend your money on what you truly want
Spend your money
on things that you want instead of a bunch of stuff you
don't need, there's a bit of a distinction. It's really easy to get
caught up in seeing things making impulsive purchases or buying
stuff that we don't need or maybe buying something that wasn't quite right
but we buy it anyway.
So spend your money on things that
you truly want and that are gonna bring you enjoyment versus stuff that
you don't need.
2. Sleep on it
Give yourself some time
to think about a purchase that you are thinking about making. Can it
wait? Ask yourself, is it something that I need right now or Can it wait? for a
few months, just sleep on it.
This is going to help
you to avoid those impulse purchases often. We get sucked into something
that we want because it seems so exciting only to have it kind of lose
its excitement pretty quickly. So give yourself some time to think on buying them.
3. Shop with Intention
Having
a shopping list, handy writing down the
things that you need to buy can help you to stay on track and not
get carried away. We all know what it's like to be in a store and we're
adding things to our cart that again we don't really need what we
didn't even come there for and it just ends up costing us a lot more. Shopping with intention will help to save more money.
4. Buy secondhand
This is another easy way to save money is to shop second hand and this is huge
whether that's checking out your local thrift store or online thrift
stores. It's a great way to save money and also for the
environment to be kind of recycling items, clothing pieces, etc.
5. Pay Attention to monthly fees or Subscriptions
The
bank debt or subscriptions or monthly payments that you have coming out
of your account for the things that you are not necessarily using or don't
need to spend as much money on and the solution here is to simply review these things.
Take a look at what are the things that automatically come out of your account that you are subscribing to and
if you decide there are things that you are not using go ahead
and cancel them. Take a few minutes to do, it's worth it
though.
6. Avoid Triggers
The
places where you are tempted to spend money, so this is different for
everyone but maybe there's is a specific store or shops. If you want to save money this is important for you to take a bit of break from
those things and you might find that you spend a lot less money on this method.
7. Borrow and DIY
There
are so many opportunities for us in life to borrow something from
someone that can be a great way to save money from having to purchase a
bunch of things especially if they are like one-time use things that
can be a household tool or eBooks that you need to use.
It is the same for DIY things where it's worth it to spend the money on
having done something by professionals or watch a YouTube video, you can
do it yourself and that can save you some money.
8. Keep your Receipts
We
would never make impulsive purchases and we wouldn't need to
return things because we knew exactly what we needed to buy and we make
use of it and all as well but in reality sometimes it happens right? We
buy things and we decide to want to return them, make sure that you do your
best to hang on to your receipts instead of tossing them away when we
get home thinking that we don't need to return this thing.
So make sure
you always keep
your receipts and it's really helpful, in case you want to
make a return
and get your money back.
9. Evaluate what you Own
Evaluate
what you already own before you are purchasing with something
you have similar. Sometimes even rearranging your furniture can
help things to freshen up instead of buying a whole bunch of new stuff.
Just take the time to evaluate the thing that you have around you.
10. Remind yourself of your Financial Goals
This
is the simple one but it can help you to put things into
perspective. What are the things that you are hoping to pay for or to be
able to afford this information especially when you are reminding
yourself of it regularly? It can help you to make wiser choices before you buy things needlessly.
11. Face your Bank Account
Log
in and take a close look at How much money you have in your
account? What do you have in your savings? How much money do you owe on
credit cards? etc., Sometimes what can happen is out of sight,
out of mind when we don't pay too much attention to it.
We
are more likely to spend money because we don't want to think too much
about it but when you sit down and are honest with yourself face your
account. It can help you to save some money.
12. Sell items You are De-cluttering
Sell
stuff that you are decluttering or not making use of it or getting rid
of instead of tossing things out. It is such a fantastic way to
simplify your space and make some extra cash from it.
13. Avoid Emotional Shopping
Avoid
shopping as much as you can when you are bored or when you are stressed
or you are emotional. It is helpful to ask yourself
what is my motivation behind really wanting this thing right now? Use
this as an opportunity to kind of pause and reflect on what is it.
If you are in that state just pause and think about it again. It can help
you more in saving some money.
